A Friend Like You
by Brian Wilson and Stephen Kalinich

Brian Wilson's Getting In Over My HeadThere is a naked honesty about this album. There is no falseness or cynicism. It is a journey of a beautiful soul. Before you think it is sentimental know this. "A friend like you" was almost 40 years in the coming. It was phone calls to me in a tiny little 1 room space from Brian saying, "I did not forget about you. Good things will happen." This was even at his low points when he was having a rough time himself. His saying "I love you", "Thank You for helping me throughout years". It was the rediscovery, the thousands of wonderful calls of excitement. "I have a new melody. Come over and pick it up and put some words to it". It is hundreds of meals and times together. It is a friendship but it is all friendships. How important it is in life to have a friend. It is not feeble, sentimental dribble. It is pure, authentic, genuine caring and it is healing and can open up your life and take you through the Darkness. There is not one false sentiment in it. It is ringing true. "A Friend Like You" is a liberation and without Brian's friendship I would not have made it until this day.

California Feelin'
by Brian Wilson and Stephen Kalinich

Beach Boys Classics"California Feelin' is a special song written in the early '70s, originally for the Beach Boys; although never officially recorded and released by the Boys, it has always been a favorite of mine. So a few months ago, I took my new band into the studio and I think we accomplished what we set out to do...that being putting a lot of love in this song with our voices. I hope you like it as much as we liked recording it for you...

A World Of Peace Must Come
recorded August-September 1969
produced by Brian Wilson

Candy Face Lane* - Birth Of God* - Deer, Elk, Raven - The Magic Hand (Fury Palm)* - Lonely Man - Be Still* - Walk Alone With Love - A World Of Peace Must Come - If You Knew* - America, I Know You*
[titles noted * are poems with musical backing: the others are songs]

Poet Steve Kalinich was introduced to the Beach Boys by Arnie Geller & Steve Korthof and initially signed to Brother Records in 1968 as part of his group, Zarathurstra And Thelibus, for whom Carl produced the unreleased "Leaves Of Grass", based on the Whitman poem. Kalinich then began collaborating with Dennis, two of their songs being included on Friends and one on 20/20 ("All I Want to Do", on which Steve is for some reason uncredited). During 1969, he began collaborating with Brian on a projected album that would marry his poetry with Brian's musical backing. Including the full version of "Be Still", the album was finished, but remains unreleased to this day. To judge from the tracks which have surfaced in the collector's Realm, Brian's musical backing to the poems was added in an impromptu fashion.
Possibility of release: Kalinich has mooted the idea for a release in recent interviews
